The Ajo Council for the Fine Arts is holding a fundraiser Saturday March 1 at the Lion’s Club in Ajo. Early risers will love this event — doors open at 7:30 AM. The sale runs through til 4 PM so you can shop later as well. 🙂
In addition to all the good things that will be on sale, two local artists have donated works of art — Pat Rigdon has donated a beautiful floral watercolor and Joyce Chaney has donated a hand-painted metal horse.
“Ole Hap” is named for the cowboy who told Joyce the story of the bucking horse moon — when a horse bucks and has all four feet off the ground, it resembles a crescent moon hanging in the sky.
In keeping with the story, Joyce has painted constellation-like horses on the metal, including a crescent moon on the horse’s hip. (Click the photo for a larger image.)
Tickets to win one of these pieces will be available at the garage sale — 1 ticket for a $1 donation or 6 tickets for $5.
