This is a call to artists to “Join the First Conversation”
We are looking for artwork that expresses a recognition that migrant lives matter and community members in this area have rights.
Hang your work for one day only in the Plaza Gallery as part of a larger state-wide day of action for border rights. You’ll find details on how Ajo has decided to participate in this larger conversation in this week’s Copper News. You’ll also find detailed information here.
We will be sharing space with the artwork of Tohono O’odham Community College students and using the free-standing movable walls for display.
This is a pop-up gallery so whatever art comes in first gets hung first — no labels will be supplied, all work must come ready to hang, and all artists must come ready to improvise! Tools and supplies will be left available in the gallery for each artist to hang his or her own artwork.
Hang your work on Tuesday May 26th between 10am and 3pm. One piece per artist please!
The community is invited to see the artwork as part of the event on Wednesday May 27th beginning at 6 pm.
